Norbert A. Begick

Mr. Begick passed away early Wednesday morning June 24, 2015 at McLaren Bay Region. Age 92 years. He was born January 19, 1923 in Frankenlust Township and has resided in this area all of his life. He was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church of Frankenlust and its Men's Club and the L.F.A. Mr. Begick proudly served his country in the United States Army during WW II and was a member of the American Legion Post 18. He had a great love for baseball, heplayed for the Chicago White Sox Minor League Baseball for one year and coached for many years. Norb owned and operated Monitor Fuel Co. for over thirty years, retired from Rupp Oil Company and served as a Trustee and as Supervisor for Frankenlust Township. He was an avid hunter and was an active bowler for sixty years. On December 8, 1945 he married his wife of 69 years the former Vera A. Appold in St. Paul Lutheran Church of Frankenlust and she is left to cherish his memories along with four children and their spouses; Vaughn and Margie Begick of Bay City, Cheryl and James Ruthig of Saginaw, Janice and Michael Stack of Newaygo, and Marcia and Martin Bacon of Bay City, five grandchildren; Jeremy and Elizabeth Begick, Timothy and Carrie Begick, Trent Ruthig, Katie Stack and Jake Bacon, four great grandchildren; Jozelynn, Brandon, Ava and Alyson Begick one brother and three sisters-in-law and one brother-in-law; Victor and Shirley Begick, Ruth Appold and Melba and LeRoy Hoerauf and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; Adolph and Lydia (Appold) Begick and two brothers, two sisters-in-law and Raymond and Harriet Begick and Elmer and Elsie Begick and one brother-in-law; Roy Appold. Funeral Services will take place Friday, June 26, 2015 at 2:00 p.m. at St. Paul Lutheran Church of Frankenlust. Officiating will be Rev. Paul D. Theiss with interment following in the Church Cemetery under the Auspices of the United States Army and the Bay County Veterans Council. Friends may call at the Gephart Funeral Home, Inc. Thursday from 2:00 to 8:00 p.m. Mr. Begick will be taken to the church on Friday to lie in state from 1:00 p.m. until the time of service. Memorials for St. Paul Lutheran Church Memorial Fund will be available at the funeral home.
