Norene Mary Vargo

Norene Mary Vargo Bay City, Michigan Norene Mary Vargo, 89, died with her family by her side on Tuesday, September 02, 2014 in Thornton, Colorado due to a brief illness. She was born on December 27, 1924 to the late Earl and Mary Belle May in Detroit, Michigan. A Memorial Mass was held at Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church in Northglenn, Colorado. On October 20, 1945 Norene married Joseph G. Vargo in St. Mary's of Redford Church. They had 5 children together and he predeceased her on April 12, 1986. Norene is survived by her children; Laura (Mike) Beyer, Richard (Katie) Vargo, Gail Vargo, and Kay (Mark) Pfeiffer; her brother George May; 11 grandchildren - Julie, Jon, Jill, Amanda, Aimie, Ashley, Kim, Kyle, Collin, Jonelle and Shelby; 5 great-grandchildren - Kami, Karter, Blake, Ava and Lexi; many nieces and nephews, and her dog "Charlie". In addition to her parents and husband; she was preceded in death by her son, Lawrence Edward Vargo; her only sister, Edna Bereziuk, and 3 brothers, Earl, John, and Donald May. A Memorial Mass will take place at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, September 13, 2014 at Our Lady of Peace Parish - St. Mary's Church, 607 E. South Union St. The Celebrant will be Rev. Fr. Patrick M. Jankowiak. Private inurnment will be at Floral Gardens Cemetery. Friends may call at the Gephart Funeral Home, Inc. on Friday from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. with the Parish Vigil Service beginning at 7:00 p.m. and on Saturday at the church from 9:00 a.m. until the time of service. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children's Hospital or a Catholic church of your choice in honor of Norene Mary Vargo.
