Mrs. Olive May Keeler, of Bay City, passed away Wednesday, April 24, 2013 at The Carriage House of Bay City. Olive was born on November 6, 1912 in Henry Co., OH to the late Orlando Earl and Ida Pearl (Swartzlander) Murdock. She grew up in Liberty Center, OH and graduated from Liberty Center High School in 1931. Following graduation from St. Vincent's Hospital School of Nursing in Toledo, OH in 1935 she worked at Peoples Hospital in Akron, OH and then did district nursing in Toledo. In 1939 Olive married Lawrence Henry Keeler of Lucas Co., OH and they moved to Bay City where she spent the rest of her life. She worked as a registered nurse at Samaritan Hospital and Bay City General Hospital from where she retired. Olive enjoyed many things in her long life including her nursing career, traveling, reading, collecting recipes and cups and saucers, watching the Red Wings and the Tigers, knitting, and a good joke. Most of all, though, she enjoyed people - those with whom she worked, her TOPS friends, great neighbors and, of course, her family. She will be greatly missed by her daughter, Carolyn Boge (Lavern) of Waterford, MI, her son,Lawrence 'Larry' Keeler of Bay City; two grandsons, Brian Boge (Deb) of Shepherd, MI and Jeremy Boge (Laura) of Hastings, Mi; four adored great-grandchildren, Jason, Allison, Owen and Kellen; and a sister, Lucille McGary of Liberty Center, OH. Olive was preceded in death by her husband Lawrence in 1979; two sisters, Helen McOscar and Gertrude Crawford; and three brothers, Charles, Ray and Dale.The family would like to thank the staff of The Carriage House for the kind, compassionate care Olive received. Friends may call at the Gephart Funeral Home, Inc. in Bay City on Saturday from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. The Funeral Service will take place at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, April 29, 2013 at the Wright-Habegger Funeral Home, Inc. in Liberty Center with interment following in Mt. Pleasant Cemetery in Providence Twp., OH. Memorial contributions may be made to the Liberty Center United Methodist Church, the Liberty Center Historical Society or donor'schoice.
