Oramel Arthur McConnell

Mr. McConnell passed away Wednesday February 24, 2010 at Bay Shores Nursing Center, age 93. The son of the late Arthur J. & Sarah O. (Rolston) McConnell, he was born August 11, 1916 in Grand Rapids. Oramel was a butcher with Peet Packing and then retired from Marshall Packing. He served with the US Army during WWII and he loved animals.Mr. McConnell is survived by two children, Christine Taylor of Bay City and Jerome (Theresa) McConnell of Dearborn Heights; grandson, Justin McConnell of Lebanon, OH; great-granddaughter, Bayliegh McConnell; step-grandchildren, Norman Brzys of Taylor, MI and Joanne (Brian) Howard of Newport, MI; step-great-grandchildren, Breanne and Brendan; brother-in-law, Thomas Brown of Alpena; sister-in-law, Marie Rosek of Midland; and several nieces & nephews. Besides his parents, Oramel was also preceded in death by his wife, Wanda (Rosek) McConnell in 1995; a son, Larry Oramel McConnell in 1950; and his special friend of 10 years, Edna Paeth in 2009.The funeral service will take place at 11:00am on Monday March 1, 2009 at the Gephart Funeral Home. Graveside interment will be in Green Ridge Cemetery with Military Honors conducted by the Bay County Veterans Council. Friends may call at the funeral home on Sunday from 2:00 to 4:00 & 5:00 to 8:00pm, and on Monday from 10:00am until time of service. Memorial contributions may be made to the wishes of the family.
