Orrin R. 'Buck' Snider "The Colonel", of Bay City, passed away Friday August 26, 2011 at the Bay Medical Care Facility, age 92. The son of the late Jacob & Eva (Gaylord) Snider, he was born May 29, 1919 in Remus. Mr. Snider served with the U.S. Army 82nd Airborne Division during WWII and was a life member of the D.A.V. He worked at Saginaw Grey Iron Metal Casting and was also a Bay City Police Dept. Reserve Lieutenant. Mr. Snider was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church. On May 11, 1946 Orrin married the former Doris S. Stead, and she preceded him in death on March 10, 2009. He is survived by four children, Steven (Nancy) Snider of Bay City, Donald (Judy) Snider of Auburn, Beverly (Marv Hallam) Gingrich of Essexville and Shirley (Dan) Skornia of Bay City; 11 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; three sisters, Eva Mae Hoffman, Olive Ivicic and Maxine Reed; and many nieces & nephews. Mr. Snider was also preceded in death by a sister, Genevieve (Arnold) Lenhert; two brothers, Egbert (Kathleen) Snider and Harold Haynes; and two brothers-in-law, Clarence Hoffman and Joe Ivicic. The family would like to extend a special thank you to the staff at Bay Medical Care Facility 2 West for the care they gave our loved one during his time there. The Funeral Liturgy will take place at 11:00am on Monday August 29, 2011 at St. Joseph Catholic Church. Celebrant will be Rev. Fr. Dale A. Orlik with The Rite of Committal following at Floral Gardens Cemetery. Military Honors will be conducted by the Bay County Veterans Council. Friends may call at Gephart Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Inc. on Sunday from 1:00 to 9:00pm with Vigil for the Deceased at 7:00pm.
