Paul A. Anderson, a dedicated individual who spent 42 years at Bay City Power Train, has left a profound impact on all those who had the privilege of knowing him. Born on November 30, 1947, God has called our loving father, grandfather and great grandfather to heaven on April 20, 2024. He will forever be remembered for his unwavering commitment to his family, friends, and community.
Throughout his life, Paul was a devoted Catholic who found joy and fulfillment in various hobbies and interests. From playing video poker with a keystone in hand to spending quality time at the casino, especially his countless trips to Las Vegas, playing Euchre, and golfing. His zest for life was truly unmatched. An avid sports enthusiast, Paul cherished moments watching games with loved ones, especially as a devoted Detroit Lions fan. His competitive spirit shone through during family gatherings and grandkids' poker nights where he never hesitated to show off his skills.
Beyond his personal pursuits, Paul dedicated himself to officiating high school baseball, basketball, and football games for over four decades. This passion culminated in a prestigious achievement when he received the Golden Whistle from the State of Michigan after 40 years of service—a testament to his integrity and expertise in sportsmanship.
However, Paul's greatest source of pride stemmed from his role as a supportive and loving father and grandfather. Fondly known as "Papa" to his grandchildren and great-grandchildren alike, he made it a priority never to miss any of their sporting events. His unwavering presence on the sidelines served as an inspiration not only to his family but also to all who were fortunate enough to witness his boundless love and encouragement.
In the quiet hours of the morning on April 20th, 2024, Paul peacefully passed away at home and is now reunited in eternal peace with his parents Helen and Arnold Anderson; Wife, Barbara Anderson and granddaughter Cassie. Left to cherish his memory are his children Steve (Julie) Anderson, Stacy Anderson (Craig), Jenny Colberg (Dave); step-children Cheryl (John) Steudle, Susan (Bob) Navarro, Michael (Wendy) LaCourt, David (Lisa) LaCourt; siblings Gary (Linda) Anderson and Mary Anderson (Tim); as well as twenty-one grandchildren and fourteen great-grandchildren. In addition to his family members. Paul will be deeply missed by friends like Coach Tom Sullivan, and fellow referees, Bob Adamowski, Wayne Beckrow, and Bob Goetz — who shared innumerable memories both on and off the field.
The legacy that Paul A. Anderson leaves behind is one of love unbounded by time—a legacy that will continue to inspire future generations to embrace life with joy and passion just as he did. Though he may no longer walk among us, his spirit will forever remain etched in our hearts.
As we bid farewell to a remarkable individual whose presence illuminated the lives of many around him, let us take solace in knowing that Paul's memory will continue to live on through the countless lives he touched during his time with us. May he rest in eternal peace knowing that he was cherished beyond measure.
