Peter M. Diaz

Peter passed away Wednesday, January 23, 2019 at his residence with his family by his side at the age of 82 years. Peter was born in Dallas, Texas on May 13, 1936 to the late Isidore and Cornelia (Montalongo) Diaz. He married the former Victoria Hernandez in Bay City on April 28, 1978. He was a former member of St. Joseph Catholic church where he served in the chapel and was currently an active member of the Church of Christ. Peter worked for Defoe Shipbuilding Company, American Brownhoist and retired as a welder from General Motors in 1991. In his spare time he enjoyed fishing, hunting, riding motorcycles, playing guitar and singing. He also was known for making the best salsa, joking, working with his hands and tinkering. Most of all he loved his family and yearly trips to Canada with his friends.
Peter is survived by his wife, Victoria; children, Peter (Sook Yi) Diaz, Eva Peplinski, Rebecca (Lupe Gonzales) Diaz, Anna (Dan) Hickey, Sandra (Ron Monville) Murray and Amanda (Kevin) Pullen; grandchildren, Ryan (Nyki), Peter (Ashley), Joey (Jane), Briana (Roberto), Jade, Connor, Jayce, Bryce and Blake; great grandchildren, Cassidy, Zoryah, Jonah, Ruby and Aria; sister-in-law, Irma Merino; nephews, Juan, Adam and Roman Jr. Diaz. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by his brother, Roman Diaz and son-in-law, Randy Peplinski.
Funeral service will take place on Tuesday, January 29, 2019 at 12:00 noon at the Gephart Funeral Home, Inc. Officiating will be Minister and close friend Richard Dawkins with burial in Floral Gardens Cemetery. Friends may visit with the family at the Gephart Funeral home, Inc. on Tuesday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service.
