Boes, Phillip Lee of Bay City, Michigan passed away Sunday, April 1, 2012 at Brian's House with his family at his side. Age 66 years. The son of the late John and Adella (Schmidt) Boes was born April 13, 1945 in Bay City and has resided here all of his life. Phil was a life long member of Zion Lutheran Church where he proudly served as elder and was a member of the ushers club. He graduated from Bay City Central High School in 1963 and from Ferris State University in 1968. Mr. Boes retired from 74th District Court as the Magistrate and Court Administer in 2005. He was a well known referee in the High School Football and Basketball programs in our area and was a member of the M.H.S.A.A. for twenty years. He had a great love for golfing and especially enjoyed playing with his son and grandsons. On July 1, 1967 he married the former Carol A. Anquetil in Zion Lutheran Church and she survives his passing along with one daughter and son-in-law; Julie and Anthony Glumm of Bay City, one son and daughter-in-law; Kyle and Kimberly Boes of Auburn, three grandsons whom he affectionately called the "Glumm buggers"; A.J. Glumm, Charles Glumm and Daniel Glumm, three sisters and three brothers-in-law; Barbara and John Harris, Rebecca and Jack Turnwald and Elizabeth and Joe Brodski, one brother and sister-in-law; Robert and Wendy Boes, and his brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law; Nancy and Larry Wiesen, Steve and Mary Anquetil and Marlene and Bill Biskner, two aunts; Florence Adams and Rae (Wally) MacPhail, many nieces, nephews, cousins, his special friends; his brother -in-law; Joe whom he enjoyed his special Monday's with, Carol Hogan, John Charters and Paul Birch, and many other friends. Besides his parents John and Adella Boes he was preceded in death by his brother; Randy Boes. The family would like to extend a special thank you to Dr. Campau, Dr. Abul Islam, Dr. Parmer, his family , his friends and McLaren Visiting Nurse Services of Michigan and the staff at Brian's House for the kind and compassionate care they gave to Phil during his illness. Funeral Services will take place Thursday, April 5, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. at Zion Lutheran Church 510 W. Ivy St. Bay City, MI 48706. Officiating will be Rev. William H. Allwardt and Rev. John W. Wernecke with interment following in Floral Gardens Cemetery. Friends may call at the Gephart Funeral Home, Inc. on Wednesday from 2:00 to 9:00 p.m.. Mr. Boes will be taken to the church on Thursday to lie in state from 10:00 a.m. and until the time of services. In lieu of flowers the family ask that you would consider a memorial to Zion Lutheran School Technology Fund in memory of Mr. Boes.
