Smith, Phillip B. "Burt" Bay City, Michigan The son of the late Bird and Betty Smith passed away unexpectedly Sunday, August 15, 2010 at Bay Regional Medical Center. Age 54 years. He was born December 10, 1955 in Norfolk, Virginia. Phillip retired from Dow Corning in Midland as a Lab Technician, served with the United States Air Force and enjoyed music and playing his guitar. His is survived by his wife of thirty six years the former Susan M. DeCatur, two sons and two daughters-in-law; Phillip A. and Kristin Smith of Freeland and Nathaniel G. and Jennifer Smith of Lawrence, Kansas, three grandsons; Phillip C., Wayne and Robert Smith, two sisters; Donna Porter of Lake City, Audrey(Lance) Benson of Littleton, CO, one brother; Mark Smith of Pinconning, sister-in-law; Judy Smith of Auburn, brother-in-law; Allen Porter of Lake City, his mother-in-law; Mary DeCatur of Bay City, his brother-in-laws and sisters-in-law; Bob and Cherri DeCatur of Battle Creek, Tammy and Keith Beson of Grand Ledge, Allan and Kathy DeCatur of Bay City and Rodney DeCatur of Kawkawlin, many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Besides his parents he was preceded in death by one brother; Wayne Smith and his father-in-law; Robert DeCatur. At the request of Mr. Smith Cremation has taken place A Memorial Service will take place at the Gephart Funeral Home, Inc and the date and time will be announce at a later time. Officiating will be Rev. Mark Kirkpatrick. Memorial cards for South Baptist Church or the donor's favorite charity will be available at the funeral home. At the request of Mr. Smith Cremation has taken place A Memorial Service will take place on Thursday, August 19, 2010 at 11:00 a.m. at the Gephart Funeral Home, Inc. Officiating will be Rev. Mark D. Kirkpatrick. The family will receive visitors at the funeral home on Thursday from 9:00 a.m. and until the time of services. Memorial cards for South Baptist Church or the donor's favorite charity will be available at the funeral home.
