Phyllis L. Gardner

Phyllis passed away Monday, August 13, 2018 at Charter Senior Living, Hampton Township, at the age of 94 years. Phyllis was born in Middlebourne, West Virginia on November 20, 1923 to the late Charles and Christina (Reynolds) Wetzel. She graduated from Saint Mary's High School in 1942. During WWII she was employed at Sterling Oil Division in Marietta, Ohio and later was transferred to Paden City. While in Paden City she was also employed by Paden City Pottery. She married Clarence R. Gardner Sr. on August 3, 1946 and he preceded her in death on January 22, 2001 after 55 years together. Phyllis was a member of the Church of Christ and in her spare time enjoyed bowling, golfing and crafting.
Phyllis is survived by her sons, Larry (Jan) and Clarence R. Gardner; grandchildren, Tammy (John) Gadbury, Timothy (Penny), Theodore (Karen) and Trina Gardner; great grandchildren, Emily, Jessica and Elijah Gadbury, Madison, Benjamin and Joshua Gardner and several nieces, nephews and cousins. In addition to her husband and parents, Phyllis was also preceded in death by her sister, Pansy Boley.
Funeral service will take place at the Gephart Funeral Home, Inc. on Thursday, August 16, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. Officiating will be Wallace Rae with committal in Floral Gardens Cemetery. Friends may visit with the family at the Gephart Funeral Home on Thursday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service.
