Carrier, Raymond Wilfred Bay City, Michigan Mr. Carrier passed away Thursday, September 20, 2012 at Red Oaks AFC Home. Age 96 years. He was born August 10, 1916 in Bay City and has resided here all of his life. Ray was a longtime member and retired usher of Holy Trinity Catholic Church. He retired from Valley Manufacturing Co., enjoyed woodworking, playing cards, traveling with his wife, and spending time with his family and grandchildren and at the family camp in Escanaba. He served with the United States Army 103rd Infantry Division during WWII. Mr. Carrier is survived by four children; Brian Carrier, Cheryl Sursely, Dennis (Marilyn) Carrier and Susan (Chris) Grzegorczyk, his grandchildren; John (Cory) Sursely, Jamie (Chris) Jankens, Stacey (Don) Reno, David (Andrea) Carrier, Sarah (Craig) Richard, Daniel (Alison) Neering, Kayla Grzegorczyk and Crislyn Grzegorczyk, his great grandchildren; Cassidy and Christopher Jankens, Cade Reno, Kiana Olds, Aiden and Evan Richard, many nieces and nephews and an extended family of friends. The family is also expecting two more great grandchildren. On June 14, 1944 he married his wife, Marian Elizabeth Carrier in Gainesville, TX and she preceded him in death along with his parents; Raoul and Dilma (Dubey) Carrier, one son-in-law; John Sursely, two brothers; Joseph and Edmund and three sisters; Marie , Lavina and Clara. The Funeral Liturgy will be celebrated Monday, September 24, 2012 at 10:00 a.m. at Holy Trinity Catholic Church. Celebrant will be Rev. Fr. Robert S. Gohm. A Private Rite of Committal for the family will take place at Calvary Cemetery in Kawkawlin under the auspices of the United States Army and the Bay County Veterans Council. Friends may call at the Gephart Funeral Home, Inc. Sunday from 2:00 to 8:00 p.m.. Sr. Joanne Toohey will conduct The Vigil for the Deceased Sunday evening at 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Mr. Carrier will be taken to the church on Monday to lie in state from 9:00 a.m. and until the time of the Mass. For those planning an expression of sympathy the family asks that you consider a memorial for St. Joseph Indian School, Boys Town or Holy Trinity Catholic Church.
