Our loving husband, father, grandfather and uncle passed away peacefully Tuesday, November 8, 2016 at his residence. Age 88 years. The son of the late Leslie and Evelena (Johnson) Hetherington was born August 23, 1928 in Akron, Michigan. He was the former owner of Rays Auto Repair, proudly served his country in the United States Air Force, retired from General Motors Co. - Grey Iron Foundry and was a member of the Saginaw Valley Church of the Nazarene , he enjoyed race cars and was known as the "Candy Man". Left to cherish his memories are three children; Linda LeTourneau and her husband Eric Peterson of Ashville, NC, David LeTourneau and his wife Connie of Knoxville, TN and Laura Shrum of Bay City, five grandchildren; Nathan, Falen, Nicholas, Stefanie and Catlyn and sister-in-law; Bernadine Hetherington and many nieces and nephews. On August 12, 1967 he married the former Rachel Audrey Desilet and she preceded him in death on August 17, 2016. He was also preceded in death by two sisters; Sadie Chambers and Arzola Mularz and six brothers; Leslie, Leonard, Kenneth, Morris, Bill, Bob and Jim. Funeral Services will take place Saturday, November 12, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. at the Gephart Funeral Home, Inc. Officiating will be Pastor Randy Owen under the auspices of the United States Air Force and the Bay County Veterans Council with interment following in Floral Gardens Cemetery. The family will be present at the funeral home on Friday to receive visitors from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. and on Saturday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service.
