Raymond "Ray" T. Szafranski

Mr. Szafranski passed away on Friday, February 01, 2019 at Covenant HealthCare - Harrison, age 94 years. The son of the late Frank and Anna (Rozek) Szafranski was born January 2, 1925 in Bay City, Michigan. Mr. Szafranski was a member of St. Catherine of Siena Parish, the Knights of Columbus Council #4102 and served in the U.S. Navy. Ray was self-employed in many businesses with the last one being Ray's Freeland Auto Parts. He enjoyed traveling, bicycling, golfing; he loved people, Bay City, the U.S. Navy and was a huge University of Michigan fan.

Mr. Szafranski is survived by his wife of 69 years, Joann M. Szafranski; one son, Roger A. (Christine M.) Szafranski; sister-in-law, Virginia Stajkowski; brother and sister-in-law, Ray (Nancy) Lesniak and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by two sisters, Alice (James) Rivard and Margie (Willard) Henson.

The funeral liturgy will take place at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, February 9, 2019 at St. Catherine of Siena Parish. Celebrant will be Rev. Fr. George Serour with Rite of Committal following in St. Stanislaus Mausoleum. Friends may call at the Gephart Funeral Home, Inc. on Friday from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. The Vigil for the Deceased will take place on Friday at 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Mr. Szafranski will be taken to the church on Saturday to lie in state from 9:00 a.m. until the time of Mass.
