Raymond R. Schwall

Mr. Schwall passed away Saturday, June 24, 2017 at Bay Field Assisted Living. Age 89 years. The son of the late Joseph and Olga (Hopke) Schwall was born October 29, 1927 in Bay City, Michigan. Mr. Schwall was a member of St. John's Ev. Lutheran Church, He was very active in the church and held many offices in the church. Mr. Schwall retired from Modern Machine as a Tool and Die Maker. He then worked for many years at Gephart Funeral Home, Inc. as the hearse driver a job that he thoroughly enjoyed and took great pride in. Mr. Schwall proudly served his country in the U.S. Army. He was a good man, an excellent Christian leader for all of his family. Left behind to cherish his memories are his wife, Rea J. (Schramm) Schwall whom he married November 6, 1948; his children, Kathryn (Mike) Baeckl of Fond du Lac, WI, David (Lynn) Schwall of Bay City, MI, Jay (Kristi) Schwall of West Allis, WI, Lisa (Thomas) Hunter of New Ulm, MN, Ray L.(Toni) Schwall of Bay City, MI, Gretchen (Robert) Trumble of Bay City, MI; eighteen grandchildren; thirty three great grandchildren; one sister, Ruth Satkowiak. In addition to his parents he was also preceded in death by one grandson, Adam Baeckl; two brothers, Louis and Joseph Schwall; one sister, Nancy Richter. Funeral and Committal Services will take place Thursday, June 29, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. at St. John's Ev. Lutheran Church 706 W. Jane St., Bay City, MI 48706.Officiating will be Rev. Paul E. Schaewe and Rev. Paul E. Schweppe with private interment in Floral Gardens Cemetery. The family will be present at the Gephart Funeral Home, Inc. on Wednesday from 2:00 to 8:00 p.m. to receive family and friends. Mr. Schwall will be taken to the church on Thursday to lie in state from 10:00 a.m. until the time of services.
