Rea June Schwall passed away Saturday, August 17, 2019 at Bay Shores Nursing Care Center. Age 91 years. The daughter of the late Emil and Olga (Arnold) Schramm was born February 22, 1928 in Bay City, Michigan. Mrs. Schwall was a life-long member of St. John's Ev. Lutheran Church , where she was baptized and confirmed in her faith, and also a member of Ladies Aid and Altar Guild and a volunteer for many projects. She married Raymond R. Schwall on November 6, 1948, and spent her many years as a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother.
Left behind to cherish her memory are six children, Kathryn (Mike) Baeckl of Fond du Lac WI, David (Lynn) Schwall of Bay City, MI, Jay (Kristi) Schwall of West Allis, WI, Lisa (Thomas) Hunter of New Ulm, MN., Raymond (Toni) Schwall of Bay City, MI, Gretchen (Robert) Trumble of Bay City, MI; eighteen grandchildren; thirty five great grandchildren; nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents she was also preceded in death by, her husband Raymond R. Schwall on June 24, 2017; grandson, Adam Baeckl; sister, Thelma Muir and brother, Otis Schramm.
Funeral and Committal Services will take place on Wednesday, August 21, 2019 at 11:00 a.m. at St. John's Ev. Lutheran Church 706 W. Jane St., Bay City, MI with Rev. Paul E. Schaewe officiating. A private interment at Floral Gardens Cemetery will take place following the service. The family will be present at the Gephart Funeral Home, Inc. on Tuesday from 2:00 to 8:00 p.m. to receive family and friends. Mrs. Schwall will be taken to the church on Wednesday to lie in state from 10:00 a.m. until the time of services. Those planning an expression of sympathy may wish to consider donations to St. John's Ev. Lutheran Church Ministerial Fund. Rea was an avid reader and loved to do puzzles. Her strength and Christian leadership made her family who they are today. Blessed be her memory!
