Rex passed away late Friday evening, February 15, 2013 at his residence at the age of 83 years. The son of the late Henry and Mary (Herline) Hill was born June 28, 1929 in Petoskey, MI. Rex retired from Consumers Energy where he worked as a tree trimmer and substation manager. He was a member of Wenona Lodge #256 F & A.M. and the American Legion Post # 18. Rex enjoyed spending time at his cabin in the woods, hunting, fishing, going to gun shows and collecting guns. Rex served his country in the U. S. Navy during W.W. II and the Korean conflict. While serving in Korea Rex served aboard the U.S.S. Manchester LST 1153. He is survived by his wife the former Mary Helen "Jackie" Arnot whom he married June 5, 1954. Also surviving are two daughters and two sons-in-law; Kathleen and Dennis Rainwater, Susie and Richard Lewis, his grandchildren; Michael Doan, Mark Doan, Krystal (Dean) Porter, Melissa (Patrick) Muylaert and David (Catherine) Rainwater, his great grandchildren, Majesta, Dakota, Blake, Donovan, Ariana, Diedrah, Claudia, Katelyn and Tabbitha, his sisters-in-law and brother-in-law; Lorraine and Pat Hill, Ray and Elaine Arnot, several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents he was also preceded in death by two brothers; Robert and Richard Hill. Funeral Services will take place Wednesday, February 20, 2013 at 1:00 p.m. at Gephart Funeral Home, Inc.Officiating will be Rev. Dennis Rainwater followed by Military Honors conducted by the Bay County Veterans Council and the U.S. Navy with private burial in Heavenly Rest Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home on Tuesday from 2:00 to 5:00 p.m. and 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. and on Wednesday from 12:00 o'clock Noon until the time of services. Members of Wenona Lodge #256 F& A.M will meet at the funeral home on Tuesday at 7:00 p.m. for a Lodge of Sorrow followed by the American Legion Post#18 Memorial Service.
