Mr. Horen passed away early Thursday morning March 20, 2014 at McLaren Bay Region at the age of 80 years. He was born on February 10,1934 in Bay City and has resided here all of his life. Dick retired from RWC, he was an avid fisherman and enjoyed volunteering at the Bay City State Park and Recreation Center where he helped children with many outdoor activities and most of all enjoyed teaching them how to fish.On May 23, 1953 he married the former Shirlee Leivo and she survives his passing along with four children and their spouses; Cathy and William LaLonde, Richard and Debra Horen, Kelly and Brian Crawford and Dean (Molly Romach) Horen, ten grandchildren; William (Jamie) LaLonde Jr., Kristy (Gregory) Daphnis, Natalie (Justin Wein) LaLonde, Michael (Sarah) Horen, Megan Horen, Matthew (Jenny) Crawford, Stephanie (Jeremy) Sherman, Eric Crawford, Philip Horen and Samantha Horen, seven great grandchildren; Jacqueline and Sebastian Daphnis, Mitchell LaLonde, Syndey Horen, Olivia, Madelyn and Jackson Sherman. He is also survived by two sisters; Shirley Revette and Ruth (Dick) Diehl and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; Richard and Ada (Chambers) Horen Sr.The family will be present at the Gephart Funeral Home, Inc. on Sunday afternoon March 23, 2014 to receive visitors from 1:00 to 5:00 p.m. A Private Celebration of Life Service for the family was held. Officiating was The Rev. Sharon L. Voelker Pastor of St. Alban's Episcopal Church. Memorial cards for "The Wishes of the Family" will be available.
