Richard "Dick" R. Rowell

Rowell, Richard R. "Dick" Bay City, Michigan Mr. Rowell passed away on Sunday, October 15, 2017 at his residence. Age 85 years. The son of the late Harold and Nell (Finn) Rowell was born April 30, 1932 in Flint, Michigan. Mr. Rowell was retired from GM Powertrain - Bay City Plant as a skilled trades foreman, he was also a member of St. Catherine of Sienna Parish, Moose Lodge #169 and Knights of Columbus #414. Mr. Rowell attended T.L. Handy High School where he received eight varsity letters, four in baseball, two in basketball and two in football, he also enjoyed deer and pheasant hunting, golfing, baseball, legion baseball, federation Baseball. Mr. Rowell coached and managed the North West Little League for seven years. Mr. Rowell is survived by his wife of 40 years, Beverly Rowell; seven children, Debra (Brian) Algar, Michael (Lois) Rowell, Cindy (Chuck) Sherman, Joe Rowell, Kimberly (Ronald) Kennedy, Dawn (Dale) Gruszynski and Tracey (Keith) Sturm; ten grandchildren; six great grandchildren; one sister, Kay Wilson; one niece and one nephew. In addition to his parents he was also preceded in death by one son, Lennie Rowell; one daughter, Paula Rowell and one grandson, Trevor Klida. The family would like to extend a special thank you to the staff of McLaren Hospice for their compassion and care that they gave to Mr. Rowell. At the request of Mr. Rowell cremation has taken place. A memorial service will take place at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, October 23, 2017 at the Gephart Funeral Home, Inc. Officiating will be Jane Grzegorczyk. Friends may call at the Gephart Funeral Home, Inc. on Monday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service. Memorial cards for the wishes of the family will be available at the funeral home.
