Richard D. Hales

Richard D. Hales, of Bay City, passed away Tuesday May 31, 2011 at Bay Regional Medical Center, age 65. The son of the late William & Olivine (Gauthier) Hales, he was born January 29, 1946 in Saginaw. Richard worked in skilled trades with General Motors until his retirement in 1997. He enjoyed antiquing, ice fishing and hunting and loved to play in his garage with his toys. He spent his winters in Arizona where he enjoyed metal detecting. Richard is survived by his wife, Margaret 'Peggy' Hales, whom he married on April 12, 1993. He is also survived by his daughter, Amy Wurdock of Bay City; two brothers, Bill (Laurel) Hales of Bridgeport and Paul (Diane) Hales of Fenton; two sisters, Ruth (Mike) Kingscott of Alma and Laura (John) Dickinson of Gainesville, FL; four sisters-in-law, Laura Burke, Gail Kipfmiller, Janice (Delbert) Feinauer and Linda (Bob) Allen; and several nieces & nephews. Besides his parents, Richard was also preceded in death by two brothers-in-law, Warren Burke and Harvey Kipfmiller. Cremation has taken place and no services will be held. For those who so desire, memorial contributions may be made to the Kidney Foundation or American Diabetes Association.
