Richard L. (Dick) Niemann Bay City, Michigan Mr. Niemann passed away on Tuesday May 15, 2012 at McLaren Bay Region following a brief illness. Age 72. Richard was born on November 12, 1939 to Melvin and Nina (Freeman) Martin in Bay City, MI. Melvin preceded Richard in death in 1943. During this time his late grandmother Etta Freeman played an instrumental role in raising young Richard. When he was at the age of 12, Nina remarried Carl Niemann who lovingly adopted Richard into his family and raised him as his own. Both Carl and Nina have preceded him in death. Richard served with the U.S. Navy. He retired from Bay City Powertrain after 35 years of service and was a member of U.A.W. Local 362. Richard was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church. He was an avid fan of the Detroit Lions and Tigers. On June 15, 1963 Richard married Judith Ann (Meyer) and she survives him along with their two children, Stephen L. (Julie) Niemann of Grand Blanc and Stacey (Thomas) Fick of Bay City. He is also survived by his four adored grandsons, Nathan Niemann and Landon, Mason and Trenton Fick; brothers and sisters-in-law, Joann (Donald) Drouin, Leonard (Christine) Meyer, Diane Sauve, Karen Keit, Pamela (Matt) Korkus and Kevin Johns; and several nieces & nephews. Richard was also preceded in death by a sister-in-law, Sharon Johns; and three brothers-in-law, Norman Sauve, William Keit and Gary Pitts. The funeral service will take place at 11:00am on Monday May 21, 2012 at Immanuel Lutheran Church. Officiating will be Rev. Kevin C. Jones. Graveside interment will follow in Floral Gardens Cemetery with Military Honors conducted by the U.S. Navy and the Bay County Veterans Council. Friends may call at the Gephart Funeral Home on Sunday from 1:00 to 4:00 & 6:00 to 8:00pm. Mr. Niemann will lie instate at the church on Monday from 10:00am until time of service.
