Richard A. Precour

Richard passed away peacefully Sunday, December 10, 2023 at Sheffield Bay with his family by his side at the age of 92. He was born in Alpena, Michigan on March 29, 1931 to the late Albert and Leona (Northrop) Precour. Richard was a member of Mt. Olive Evangelical Lutheran Church. He was a great father, papa and great papa who loved spending time with his family. He was a kind and caring man who always had a smile and laugh. He worked for a short time at the cement plant in Essexville and then retired from General Motors after 30 years of dedicated service. He was a jack of all trades who in his spare time enjoyed archery hunting, wood working, painting, repairing small engines, and watching the Detroit Tigers.

Richard is survived by his children, Jill (Gary) Scherzer and Donald (Barbara) Precour; grandchildren, Joshua (Allison) Scherzer, Justin (Autumn) Scherzer, Jordan (Jules) Scherzer, Brandon (Janelle) Precour and Brent (Jennifer) Precour; great grandchildren, Lili Debiasi, Lucas, Kennedy, and Kinsley Scherzer, Penelope, Nash, Evelyn and Vincent Precour; sisters, Jeannine Neumeyer and Beverly Roberge; sisters-in-law, Delores Gendron, Carol Neveau and Bonnie Neveau,; brothers-in-law, Jim Neveau, Carl Neveau and Norm Roth; many nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, Richard was also preceded in death by his wife, Donna Precour; father and mother-in-law, Floyd and Donna (Buck) Neveau; brother and sisters-in-laws, Gilbert Neumeyer, Edmund Roberge, Jack (Barb) Neveau, Bill (Marie) Neveau, Toots (Art) Schuchardt, Paul Genderon, Midge (Chuck) Gillisse, Frank (Jeanette) Neveau, Bud (Donna) Neveau, Iva Roth, Eva Neveau, Floyd Neveau, Ellen Neveau, Ruth Roth, Marcella McPherson, Karen Neveau, Bob Neveau, Tom Neveau, Lyn Neveau, Fred Neveau and Lorraine Roth.

Funeral Services will take place at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, December 15, 2023 at Mt. Olive Ev. Lutheran Church. Officiating will be Pastor Zach Steinke with committal and interment following in Floral Gardens Cemetery. Friends may visit with the family on Thursday, December 14, 2023 from 2:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Gephart Funeral Home. Richard will be taken to church to lie in state on Friday, December 15, 2023 from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be considered to Mt. Olive Ev. Lutheran Church.
