Richard W. Stanley "Rich"

Richard passed away Sunday, May 1, 2022, at the age of 74 years. He was born on September 23, 1947 in Bay City to the late James and Helen (Dubay) Stanley. Rich married Cathy (Freese) in 2001. Rich retired from GM Powertrain and owned/operated several small trucking businesses over the years. Rich was a well-known stock car racer for over 30 years at speedways around Michigan. Rich loved watching the races after retiring from it in the 80's, camping and tractor pulling.
Rich is survived by his wife, Cathy; daughters, Connie (Scott) McCleod of Cheboygan and Renee (Terry) Toureau of Bay City; son, Joseph Richard Stanley; eight step children; twenty-one grandchildren; seven great grandchildren and sister, Dorothy (Doe) Green. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by his first wife, Geraldine (Geri Blossey) Stanley in 1986; step daughter, Marie MacDonald; brothers, Edward and Ron Stanley; sisters, Betty Becker and Clara Ryers and beloved pet Spanky.
Funeral service will take place at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, May 6, 2022 at Kawkawlin Community Church. Officiating will be pastor Aaron Knapp with interment and committal following in Floral Gardens Cemetery. Friends may visit at the Gephart Funeral Home on Thursday, Mar 5, 2022, from 2:00 to 8:00 p.m. Mr. Stanley will be taken to the church to lie in state on Friday from 9:00 a.m. until the time of the service.
