Robert "Bob" Ervin Britton died unexpectedly, but peacefully at his home on June 8, 2019 at the age of 87. He was born October 13, 1931 in Midland, Michigan. Bob worked for Dow Chemical Company for 27 years and retired in 1997. Prior to Dow, Bob was a police officer with the Bay City Police Department. Bob was an active member of his church. He belonged to the Tri-City Carvers Club and a number of local charitable organizations. His passions were his family, church studies, wood carving, fishing, hunting, marksmanship and reloading, reading, storytelling and spending time with friends. He was an army veteran, post WWII. Bob married his first wife, Kathleen J. Pake on July 24, 1954. Kathleen passed away on June 1, 2002. In 2003, Bob married the former Gloria Markel and they shared 16 wonderful years together. He is survived by his wife Gloria, his three children, sons, Jeffrey (Susan) Britton, Stephen (Lori) Britton, daughter, Rebecca (Thomas) Benner, three step children, Lisa (Glen) Bertini, Michelle (Jerry) Slebiska and Laurel Markel and his brother, David (Marsha). He had seven grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren, three step grandchildren and one step great-grandchild, which he adored. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Kathleen (Pake), one grandchild, Andrew Britton, a sister, Edith (Smith), his mother, Almyra (Silvernale) Britton and father, Ervin.
Funeral and Committal services will take place at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, June 14, 2019 at the Fraser Road Church of God (2755 Fraser Road, Kawkawlin, MI). Officiating will be Pastor Rick Webb followed by military honors conducted by the Bay County Veterans Council. Private interment will follow in Heavenly Rest Cemetery. (Old Kawkawlin Road at 2 Mile, Kawkawlin, MI). Friends may call at the Gephart Funeral Home, Inc. (201 West Midland Street, Bay City, MI). on Thursday from 2:00 to 8:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Fraser Road Church of God Benevolence Fund.
