Robert L. DePrekel

Robert passed away Wednesday, March 27, 2019 at McLaren Bay Region at the age of 91 years. Robert was born in Bay City on September 5, 1927 to the late Lambert and Marie DePrekel. Robert proudly served his country in the United States Army in WWII. He married the former LaDona E. Jonkis on September 25, 1953 and she preceded him in death on April 7, 2017. He was a longtime member of the former Visitation Catholic Church and was a member of the American Legion. Robert worked for Bushey Glass Company and retired in 2000. In his spare time he enjoyed walking in the mall, doing scratch off tickets, camping, working in his garage and constructing aquariums and glass items.
Robert is survived by his children, James (Grace) DePrekel, Richard (Deb) DePrekel, Robert (Vickie)DePrekel, Joan (Brian) Nalevayko and David DePrekel; twelve grandchildren; seven great grandchildren; one great great grandchild; sisters, Jeanette Rase, Diane Brubaker and Rose DePrekel and many nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents and wife, he was also preceded in death by his brothers, Frances, Frederick, John and William Deprekel, David Brubaker and sister, Grace Marie Gillespie.
At the request of Robert cremation has taken place. A memorial service will take place on Sunday, March 31, 2019 at 4:00 p.m. Officiating will be Mary Ann Helie. The family will be present at the funeral home on Sunday to receive friends and family from 1:00 p.m. until the time of the service.
