Robert Allen Engel

Robert passed away on Thursday, April 18, 2024 at McLaren Bay Region at the age of 81. The son of the late John and Alice (Wujek) Engel was born July 16, 1942 in Bay City, Michigan. Bob was retired from GM where he worked from 1964 to 1991. He enjoyed being a CB radio operator, playing the lottery and watching sports, especially the Detroit Tigers and Lions. His favorite pastime was playing his guitar, he loved good old country music, he would get together with his friends and sing and record songs. He also enjoyed playing a game of pool in his basement. After he and his wife retired, they bought a 27’ travel trailer and started camping with family and friends from 2005 until 2022, this was the joy of their lives, they traveled all over upper Michigan. 

Robert is survived by his loving wife of 60 years, Florence Engel; three children, Susan (David) Mitchell, Lori (Kevin) Goodman and Jason (Kristy) Engel; grandchildren, Brandon (Michelle) Engel, Michael Goodman, Kyle Engel and Olivia Gornto; great grandchildren, Quintin Engel, Julius and Genevieve Ladesma and his sister, Maryann Engel. He was also preceded in death by his son, Robert Allen Engel Jr.

At the request of Robert, cremation has taken place and no services are being planned. Those planning an expression of sympathy may wish to consider memorial contributions to the wishes of the family.
