LaMere, Robert E. Bay City, Michigan Robert LaMere passed away Monday, October 17, 2016 at Heartland Health Care Center - Hampton after a long illness due to a stroke. Age 70 years. The son of the late Robert E. and Betty (Roberts) LaMere was born September 2, 1946 in Bay City, Michigan. Bob graduated from T.L. Handy High School in 1964. He was a Vietnam Veteran and was employed at Prestolite and Midland Center for the Arts. Bob liked to hunt, ice fish, travel, watch sports and read. He especially loved having his grandchildren around him. Bob is survived by his wife of 45 years the former Virginia Martin; two daughters; Sarah LaMere and Jessica (George) Escamilla; one son, Michael LaMere; grandchildren, Brandon Flues, Gavin, Nicholas and Abby Escamilla; one brother, Ralph LaMere of Bay City; three sisters, Joyce Wolff of Prescott, Diane LaBarge of Kawkawlin and Amy LaMere of Bay City; one sister-in-law, Viola Martin of Caro and many nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents Mr. LaMere was also preceded in death by his brothers-in-law, Lewis LaBarge, William Martin and John Martin. The family would like to extend a special thank you to the staff of Heartland Health Care-Hampton and McLaren Hospice for their compassion and care. The Funeral Liturgy will be celebrated Saturday, October 22, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Catherine of Siena Parish. (2956 East North Union Rd., Bay City, MI 48706) Celebrant will be Rev. Fr. Joseph Miller with Rite of Committal following in Calvary Cemetery. Friends may call at the Gephart Funeral Home, Inc. on Friday from 2:00 to 8:00 p.m. The Vigil for the Deceased will take place on Friday at 7:00 p.m. Mr. LaMere will be taken to the church on Saturday to lie in state from 10:00 a.m. and until the time of the Mass. Memorial cards for McLaren Hospice or the donor's favorite charity will be available at the funeral home.
