Mr. Robert E. Wieland passed away Monday, May 23, 2016 due to heart complications. The son of the late Ben and Esther Wieland was born on April 29, 1929. Bob was a business entrepreneur his entire life. Some of the businesses he launched were Bob Wieland Trenching, Bay City Glass Co., The Pub, NLBA Insurance Co., The Crab Trap, and Earthworm Directional Boring. During his lifetime he served as President of Bay County MLBA, State VP of MLBA, and President of the T.L. Handy Booster Club. Bob was an avid hunter and fisherman, a member of his beloved White Pine Hunting Club since 1950. He lived his entire life in Bay City, wintering in St. James City, FL.
Bob is survived by his loving wife Rainell; children, Bob (Deb), Rick (Nancy), Kathy (Pete) Benington and step-daughter, Valorie Smith; 9 grandchildren; 6 great-grandchildren; his siblings, Ruth King, Lillian Wheeler and Carl (Nancy); his brother-in-law, Jim Ralph. He was preceded in death by his sister, Kitty Ralph.
A Memorial Service will take place at 12:00 p.m. on Monday, May 30, 2016 at the Gephart Funeral Home, Inc. Officiating will be Rev. John W. Wernecke.  Friends may call at the funeral home on Sunday from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. and on Monday from 11:00 a.m. until the time of service.
