Dearly loved mother and grandmother, Roberta passed away September 11, 2013. She was a devoted wife and loving mother and grandmother. She's been a beloved member of the South Bay City Congregation of Jehovah's Witnesses since 1954. Roberta was a kind, intelligent and perceptive person who loved God, His Word and people. She had a beautiful smile and an easy laugh. She loved to sing and would often break out in song as she went about her work in the home. As a young person so fond of musicals and westerns, she loved going to the movie theatre with her brother John. Though Roberta enjoyed the simple pleasures of life, she was anything but a simple woman. Her children remember her for her quiet strength, depth of thought and wisdom. She had faith in the Bible's promises and so eloquently expressed that faith at congregation meetings and in public witnessing. Right to the end her hope was strong as she looked forward to being resurrected to be among the meek who will inherit a peaceful earth. Roberta Theresa Kowalski was born 80 years ago on February 14, 1933 to the late Robert F. and Alice M. (Savage) Trepkowski. Also preceding her in death was her brother John Trepkowski in 1975. On December 29, 1951 Roberta married Edwin J. Kowalski whom she dearly loved. They were happily married for over 48 years, partners in life as well as business. Roberta lovingly cared for Edwin during his last few years of declining health until he passed away on October 30, 2000. Surviving to treasure and recount their memories of her are her five children and their spouses - Donna (Bob) Giroux, Houston TX; Diane (Mark) Linkowski, Bay City MI; Dale (Joanne) Kowalski, Atlanta GA; Dana (Theresa) Kowalski, Bay City MI and Darla (Brian) Neal, Blackwood NJ. Roberta also leaves behind three grandchildren - Evan (Taylor) Kowalski, Dana and Kiah Kowalski. Also surviving is her dear sister, Carol A. Gilman of Lupton MI, uncle Daniel Savage, aunt Joan Sebald of Bay City. Also three sisters-in-law: Rose Atwood, Elizabeth (Robert) Dupuie, Lillian Kowalski and one brother-in-law, Virgil (Leota) Kowalski all of Bay City. Also several nieces and nephews to whom she is dear Aunt Bobbie. The family thanks Dr. David Cook, Bay City and Dr. Jeremy Handel, Royal Oak for their compassionate expertise in the care of Roberta. Also thank you to Dr. Charlotte Yang and also the wonderful Hospice nurses for their gentle guidance and care at the end of Roberta's life. Roberta and her family have especially appreciated the overwhelming love and support from their dear friends in the congregation.
