Betty passed away Friday, November 29, 2019 at the Toni and Trish House at the age of 99 years. She was born in Bay City on September 5, 1920 to the late Herbert and Mable (Smith) Lohr. On September 12, 1937 she married Merle VanDeusen and were together for 68 years until he passed away in 2005. Betty was a longtime member of Immanuel Lutheran Church and worker and retired from K-Mart on Euclid Avenue. In her spare time she enjoyed volunteering at Bay Economy Center and the Food Bank. She also enjoyed traveling, knitting, gardening and spending time with family.
Betty is survived by her children, Eileen (John) Katt, Herbert (Barbara) VanDeusen, Rita Biskner, Kenneth (Marie) VanDeusen and Lorraine Kratz; ten grandchildren; fourteen great grandchildren; two great great grandchildren; sisters, Nita Trudeau, Dorothy Granger and Geraldine Smithingell and many nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband, she was also preceded in death by her grandson, Christopher Kratz in 1997; son-in-law, Thomas Biskner and five brothers.
Funeral and Committal services will take place on Wednesday, December 4, 2019 at 11:00 a.m. at the Gephart Funeral Home, Inc. Officiating will be Pastor Chris Garcia with private burial in Floral Gardens Cemetery. Friends may visit at the Gephart Funeral Home on Wednesday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service.
