Roger passed away peacefully Saturday, December 22, 2012 at the Carriage House Nursing Home at the age of 72 years. The son of the late Harry and Betty (Beelman) Davis was born August 10, 1940. He was a member of Christ the King Lutheran in Gladwin and took care of the church grounds for many years. While living in Bay City he was a longtime member of Faith Lutheran Church and served as an usher and trustee. Roger retired from Consumers Energy as a substation mechanic. He had a great love for his grandchildren, the outdoors, especially fishing and hunting. He also enjoyed bowling, drawing and was an avid gardener for many years. Roger served his country in the U.S. Navy during the Vietnam Conflict. He is survived by one daughter and son-in-law; Wendy and Brian Bennett of Bay City, one son and daughter-in-law; Michael and Stacy Davis of Auburn, his grandchildren; Jonathon and his special friend; Errin, Noah, Callie and Leo, two sisters; Diann Davis and Laurie Bader, one sister-in-law: Diane Darling, his niece; Sarah (Brandon) Boothe and his nephew; Robert Bader. Roger was preceded in death by his wife; Judith Davis, in addition to his parents. Funeral Services will take place Friday, December 28, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. at Gephart Funeral Home, Inc. Officiating will be Rev. Andreas H. Teich with interment following in Floral Gardens with Military Honors conducted by the Bay County Veterans Council. The family will be present at the funeral home to greet family and friends on Thursday from 1:00 to 5:00 p.m. and 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. and on Friday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of services. Memorial Cards for St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital will be available at the funeral home.
