Ronald D. Jones

Mr. Ronald D. Jones, of Bay City, passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday, September 27, 2016 at McLaren Bay Region, age 77. He was born on January 5, 1939 in Beulah, MI. Ron graduated from Bay City Central High School in 1957 and went on to serve his country in the U.S. Navy. He was the former owner of R.D. Jones Insurance Agency and then retired from Northway Insurance Agency. Ron was a member of New Life Missionary Church. He was active with Senior Olympics and enjoyed fishing, volleyball, hunting and softball. Ron was a larger than life man who lived life to the fullest. Ron never met a stranger as he had the ability to make friends with everyone he met. Most importantly were the times he spent with his family and his extended family, and they will certainly miss his big hugs and kisses. Ron is survived by his wife of 54 years, Doris Jean Jones and their three children, Debra Morgan of Huntsville, AL, Doreen (Ralph) Smith of Bay City and David (Gina) Jones of Marion, IA; grandchildren, Cristie (Greg) Mellon, James Morgan, Stephan Morgan, Shannon Smith, Eric Smith, DJ (Kayla) LaPan, Felicia LaPan, Jason (Lydia) Jones, David Jones, Jr., Stephanie Jones, Nicholas Jones, Jacob Jones, Sarah Jones, Christine (Zack) Wise and Dianna (Josh) Rhoden; great-grandchildren, Landon Morgan, Austin, Collin, Olivia and Ethan Mellon, Aleah LaPan, Riley LaPan, Brooke Shoemaker, Will and Allie Wise; a sister-in-law, Marilyn Jones; his brother, Larry (Jan) Cox; his three sisters, Sharon (Vernon) Dennis, Georgina (Dennis) Blue and Joyce (Dale) Hooker; his brothers and sisters-in-law, Shirley (Don) Miller, Donna (Wayne) Loeding, Ilene (Bob) Bellant, Barb Shoemaker, Edna Alexander, Bonnie (Mike) Goretski, Melvin (Sherrie) Smith, Ronnie (Bonnie) Smith and Kathy Easley; his step-father-in-law, Arnold Paolucci and many very special nieces, nephews and grand nieces and nephews. Ron was preceded in death by his father, George Jones; his mother, Jessie Jones Cox; his step-father, Ellery Cox; a brother, DeForest "Floyd" Jones; his mother-in-law, Lucille Paolucci; his father-in-law, Carl Smith; two brothers-in-law, Edward Smith and James Easley; and a sister-in-law, Carol Smith. The Funeral Service will take place at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, October 1, 2016 at New Life Missionary Church, 3121 E. North Union Rd. Officiating will be Rev. Jonathan Boyer. Interment will follow at Floral Gardens Cemetery with Military Honors conducted by the U.S. Navy and the Bay County Veterans Council.
