Monville, Ronald Leo, was born January 11th, 1938 in Bay City to proud parents Leo & Doris (Neal) Monville. He passed away in the arms of his wife Gretta Ann Wednesday evening September 7th, 2011, at his Bay City home. His seven week illness was devastating to all who knew him and having his suffering end is truly a blessing from God. His life was filled with his pursuit of many interests. As a young man he worked at DeFoe Shipyard, played guitar and had his own band, The Delray's that performed at many venues throughout the area in the early 60's. Ron served in the U.S. Army. He was draftsman and worked for Lewis Manufacturing and Aladdin Homes. The career of his life, the one he cherished was being a policeman. Ron joined the Bay City Police Department in 1965 and relished the career in uniform, on the road, eventually in the detective bureau, retiring as a Sergeant in 1993. He was a member of F.O.P. Lodge #103. He then joined Kozy Bail Bonds of Saginaw in 1997 and as he said, "For years I was putting them in jail, then working to get them out", finally retiring in December of 2002. For many years Ron was a coach and umpire at Southwest Little League in Bay City. Introduced to camping, fishing and hunting by his parents as a young boy, he continued those activities through all his years, camping throughout Michigan parks and eventually winter trips to Florida and Texas. Most recently Ron enjoyed his year round home on Tawas Lake in East Tawas, Michigan where he married Gretta Ann (Kessler-LaMoria) on December 11, 2010. He fished from their dock with his first cup of coffee in the morning and later in the day on the pontoon with Gretta Ann. The only hunting he did now was with his binoculars watching the wonderful wild life at their home and nature drives so Gretta could take her pictures. Left to remember those wonderful times with Ron other than the unending list of friends, are his wife Gretta Ann; sons, Ronald L. II (Sandra Murray) Monville of Bay City and Randy (Annie) Monville of St. Clair Shores; stepsons, Charles (Linda) Quade of Tampa, FL, Robert Quade of Bay City, David (Connie) Quade of Bay City, Mark (Cheryl) Quade of Bay City and Scott (Maria) Quade of Del Rio, TX. Ron thought the world of his 14 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren and two great-grandchildren of the way. Ron was preceded in death by his parents; his wife Peggy (Cardinal) in 1988 and his wife Nancy (Quade) in 2008. Ron was baptized into the Catholic Faith in 1988 by Rev. Fr. Jim Carlson at Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Bay City and Fr. Carlson will officiate at his Memorial Service on Tuesday September 20th, 2011 at 10:30am at Gephart Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Inc. 201 W. Midland St. Bay City, MI 48706 989-686-2291 Military Honors will be conducted by the Bay County Veterans Council. Interment will be in Floral Gardens Cemetery. Visitation with family and friends and an Honor Guard by the F.O.P. will take place at the funeral home on Sunday September 18th from 1:00 to 8:00pm, Monday September 19th from 3:00 to 8:00pm and on Tuesday September 20th from 9:30am until time of services.
