The Lord reached down to guide Ron into heaven on Monday, October 5, 2020 at McLaren Bay Region with his family by his side at the age of 71. The son of the late Frank and Cora (Morris) Thume was born May, 28, 1949 in Bay City, Michigan. Ron Graduated from Bangor John Glenn in 1967. He then began to work for the Bay City Police reserve and sheriff special division for 7 years; he then worked at Steering Gear, Delphi for 38 years. Ron was very social and had the ability to talk to anyone about anything. He was "Mr. Fix it" whenever things got broken, his grandson always said "Grandpa can fix it". He also loved to hunt, fish, riding his motorcycle, watching NASCAR, range shooting, going camping and spending time with his friends and family.
He leaves his soul mate of 51 years who he married February 1, 1969, Rosemarie Thume (Martek). He also leaves two sons, Ronald (Beth) Thume and Ryan Thume; two grandchildren who were the sparkle in his eyes, Braydin and Rylee Thume; sister, Nancy Lee Bell; sister-in-law, Dorothy Napieralski; brother-in-law, Jim (Nancy) Martek; nine nieces and six nephews. In addition to his parents Ron was preceded in death by his son, Richard D. Thume; half sisters, Betty Jasman, Carol Talmadge and Eva Crowl; in-laws, Stephen and Jennie Martek; brothers-in-law, Steven Martek, Eugene Martek, Robert Martek; two nephews and many aunts and uncles.
Funeral and Committal Services will take place at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, October 10, 2020 at the Gephart Funeral Home, Inc. Officiating will be Deacon Ken Kochany. Family and friends may call at the funeral home on Saturday from 11:00 a.m. until the time of service. After the service visitation will resume until 4:00 p.m. Cremation will take place after the service. Following the governors updated restrictions we will be able to allow 50 people in our chapel at one time, and we will be requiring masks and social distancing in the chapel. You may experience a slight delay while paying your respects to the family.
