Roy Edward Mersdorf

Roy Edward Mersdorf, of Crawfordville, FL formerly of Bay City, passed away on Tuesday March 15, 2011 at his residence, age 62. He was born October 28, 1948 in Bay City. Roy was a graduate of T.L. Handy High School and served with the US Army during the Vietnam Conflict. He has been a resident of Florida for the last 20 years. Roy worked as a machinist and he was a certified diver, licensed pilot, sailboat captain and was also a gunsmith. He enjoyed deep sea fishing and was an avid hunter. Roy is survived by his wife and her two grown children; his father, Roy C. Mersdorf of Bay City; his two daughters, Joy & Angela; five grandchildren and one great-grandchild; his brother, Ike Mersdorf of Canyon Lake, Texas; five sisters, Linda (Dave) Blankenship of Bay City, Becky (Dennis) Malusi of Cedar Springs; Theresa (Ron) Perkins of Canyon Lake, Texas, Ellen Switala of Bay City and Gina (John) Syring of Bay City; and several nieces & nephews. Roy was preceded in death by his mother, Virginia (Richardson) Mersdorf. A celebration of Roy's life will be held this summer at his request.
