Reitmeyer, Royce J. Bay City, Michigan Mr. Reitmeyer passed away Tuesday morning April 16, 2013 at The Carriage House of Bay City. Age 88 years. He was born January 26, 1925 in Vincennes, Indiana. On June 29, 1952 Royce married the former Violet M. Haff. He graduated from Lincoln High School in Vincennes, IN and then went on to serve with the U.S. Air Force. Royce received his BA from Concordia University in Chicago and his MA from Central Michigan University. He was an educator for 40 years, teaching at Gethsemane Lutheran School in Rochester Hills, Immanuel Lutheran School in Milwaukee, St. Mark the Evangelist School in St. Clair Shores, and for the last 22 years of his career he taught at Faith Lutheran School in Bay City, where he had also served as principal. Royce enjoyed organ music and the outdoors, especially gardening. Besides his wife Violet, Royce is also survived by their four children, Thea Reitmeyer of Sterling Heights, Marcia Reitmeyer of Pasadena, CA, Darryl (Michelle) Reitmeyer of Carlsbad, CA and Cara (Robert) Allen of Avon, OH; five grandsons, Joshua and Justin Krach, and Andrew, Zachary and Noah Reitmeyer; two step-grandchildren, Tom and Megan Allen; his sister, Darline Gallipo; a sister-in-law, Eileen Herr; and many nieces and nephews. Royce was preceded in death by his parents, Frank and Margaret (Boelling) Reitmeyer; a brother, Orville Reitmeyer; and other brothers and sisters. The family would like to express their sincere appreciation to Dr. Howard Hurt and also the staff of The Carriage House for the extra special care Royce received. Funeral Services will take place Friday, April 19, 2013 at 10:00 a.m. at Faith Lutheran Church. Officiating will be Rev. Daniel C. Meckes and Rev. George W. Morris followed by Military Honors conducted by the Bay County Veterans Council. The Committal Service will take place at 2:00 p.m. on Friday at the Union Corners Cemetery in Troy. Friends may call at the Gephart Funeral Home, Inc. on Thursday from 1:00 to 8:00 p.m. Mr. Reitmeyer will lie instate at the church on Friday from 9:00 a.m. until the time of service. Memorial contributions may be made to the Faith Lutheran School Tuition Assistance Program or to LCMS Missionary Support.
