Mr. Russell Burton Goss, of Kawkawlin, passed away Saturday, November 16, 2013 at The Carriage House of Bay City at the age of 93 years. The son of the late Joseph and Ruby (Hildebrant) Goss was born on February 2, 1920 in Kawkawlin, Michigan and has resided there all of his life. He proudly served his country in the United States Army during World War II and was employed with the Macauley and Helen (Dow) Whiting family as a caretaker and gardener for thirty years in Midland. Russ enjoyed Detroit Tiger baseball, horses and working in his shed. He is survived by his special friend; June Fick and her children; Judy (Warren) Bielby, Erna Nash, John(Gwen) Fick, Alan (Patty) Fick, Brenda (Mitch) McCord, Debbie (Roger) Sprague and Dean (Sheryl) Fick, two sisters; Betty Rasmer and Patricia Endline, one brother; Lloyd Goss, brother-in-law; Henry Krolikowski and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his brothers; Cliff and Art, sisters; Mary, Viola, Delores and Sarah, and his in-laws; Stan Rasmer, Oscar Wilson, Al Sylvester, Don Endline, June Goss, Doris Goss and Celia Goss. The family wishes to extend a special thank you to the caring staff at the Carriage House for the kind and compassionate care they extended to Russ during the time they cared for him. A Funeral Service will take place Tuesday, November 19, 2013 at 7:00 p.m. at the Gephart Funeral Home, Inc. Officiating will be Rev. Joseph Atchinson with private interment in Midland City Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home on Tuesday from 2:00 to 8:00 p.m. Members of the Bay County Veterans Council will conduct Military Honors at the funeral home on Tuesday afternoon at 3:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers memorial cards for the Salvation Army will be available.
