Ruth L. Vogtmann

Mrs. Ruth L. Vogtmann, of Bay City, passed away early Friday morning, February 26, 2016 at The Carriage House of Bay City, at the age of 94. The daughter of the late John and Anna (Schlicker) Klaus, she was born on March 21, 1921 in Saginaw County. Ruth has been a longtime faithful member of St. Paul Lutheran Church of Frankenlust. She had worked in restaurants, first at the former Empire Hotel and then Bay Valley Resort. Ruth was raised on her family farm in Freeland and she continued farming with her husband, Arnold. She could be seen with a hoe in her hand from sun-up to sun-down, never letting a weed spend any time in her yard or garden.
On January 3, 1947 Ruth married Arnold G. Vogtmann in Trinity Monitor Lutheran Church and he preceded her in death on October 15, 1992. She is survived by her children, Alvin (Diane) Vogtmann of Bay City, Shirley (Ron) Wenglikowski of Troy and Nancy (David) Maxwell and Larry (Tammie) Vogtmann, all of Bay City; her six grandchildren, Amy, David, Mark, Rachel, Michael and Kayla and three great-grandchildren, Hunter, Austin and Camden; and a sister-in-law, Ruth Weiss of Bay City. Ruth was also preceded in death her brother, Rudolph "Rudy" (Helen) Klaus; and a brother-in-law, Alfred Weiss.
The Funeral Service will take place at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, March 1, 2016 at St. Paul Lutheran Church of Frankenlust. Officiating will be Rev. Robert Roberts with the Committal Service following in St. Paul Cemetery. Friends may call at the Gephart Funeral Home, Inc. on Monday from 2:00 to 8:00 p.m. Mrs. Vogtmann will lie instate at the church on Tuesday from 1:00 p.m. until the time of services.
