Sherman Albert Headings passed away Tuesday morning, July 30, 2019 at the age of 88 years. Sherman was born on December 15, 1930 to the late Elmer and Evelyn Headings. On December 23, 1950 he married the love of his life, Rose Rice, daughter of William and Neva Rice.
Sherman drove semi trucks for most of his career and retired from Holland Transit in 1980. After retiring, he drove for Bay Metro until 1993. He then started his own business, Fas-Break Windshield Repair. In 2010 he finally retired permanently.
In his younger days, Sherman enjoyed weekly card games with his family and friends, as well as playing baseball and horseshoes. He also enjoyed going to the casino in his later years.
Sherman leaves behind his wife, Rose; eight children, Ted and Donna (Martyn) Headings, Wanda and John Everitt, Thomas and Tammy (Dearman) Headings, Timothy and Kathy (Morrill) Headings, Todd Headings, Troy and Sue (Berger) Headings, Bethany and Herb Nordstrom and Vonnie and John Blossey; twenty six grandchildren; forty great grandchildren; five great great grandchildren and his best buddy King Henry. He was preceded in death by his parents, father and mother-in-law, daughter, Jackie Lynn Headings, two grandsons, Anthony (Tony) Kraska and Senior Chief Gary Robert Headings.
Funeral service will take place on Friday, August 2, 2019 at 11:00 a.m. at the Gephart Funeral Home, Inc. Officiating will be Ted Headings with interment to follow in Floral Gardens Cemetery. Friends may call at the Gephart Funeral Home on Thursday from 2:00 to 8:00 p.m. and on Friday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service.
