Shirley J. Cavanaugh

Mrs. Shirley J. Cavanaugh, of Bay City, passed away early Thursday morning, September 17, 2015 at McLaren Bay Region, age 88. The daughter of the late David and Bessie (King) Bates, she was born on September 16, 1927 in Detroit. Shirley worked as a bookkeeper at Bay City Hall and for the Bay City Police Department, then was a switchboard operator first at Bay Osteopathic Hospital and then at Bay Medical Center, from which she retired from.
Shirley is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Constance (Denis) Richard of Bay City; three grandchildren and five great-grandchildren; her sister, Kathryn Bigelow of Bay City; and many nieces and nephews.Besides her parents, Shirley was also preceded in death by her son, Timothy M. Bedell.
It was Shirley's desire for a cremation to take place. A private memorial service will be held with entombment at the Calvary Mausoleum.
