Witzke, Shirley Ann (Dennis) Rose City, Michigan Shirley Ann Witzke (Dennis) age 77 died in her home in Rose City, MI on September 9, 2014 surrounded by family and friends. Shirley was born December 3, 1936 in Saginaw Michigan to Earl & Lilus Dennis and graduated in 1954 from Arthur Hill High School. Shirley married Jerry F. Witzke on April 23, 1955 at St. Boniface church in Bay City. Shirley held several jobs prior to gaining employment at Mercy Hospital where she worked from 1966-1968 as an emergency admitting clerk. From 1969 to 1971 she was employed as a teacher's aide in Bay City and Freeland schools and in 1975 Shirley was hired as a Patient account specialist - Chief Admitting Clerk at Bay Medical Center where she retired from in 1994. Shirley resided in Bay City with her husband and children prior to moving to Rose City in 2005. Shirley and Jerry were active members in the Bay City Bowman's early in their adult lives and many family vacations were scheduled for the opening of the archery deer season. Shirley also enjoyed camping, fishing, cross country skiing, trips to the casino and reading. Cooking was her passion and fresh baked goods were always in good supply in her home. As a devoted wife, mother and grandmother, Shirley took pride in her family. Shirley is survived by her children Jerry Allan (Connie) Witzke, Steven (Cheryl) Witzke, Robert (Janet) Witzke, and Joycelynn (Randy) Lednicky, 11 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren. Shirley is also survived by one brother, Grant (Shirley) Dennis and sister, Joanne (James) Braun as well as a sister in law, Barbara Mehnert. Also leaving behind her beloved dog, Maggie Tzu. Shirley was predeceased by her loving husband of 58 years Jerry F. Witzke, grandson Eric Richards, sister in law Betty Weber, and siblings Max Dennis, John Dennis, Gene Dennis and Florence Plank. The family will gather at the Gephart Funeral Home, Inc. on Friday, September 12, 2014 from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. A Eulogy to honor Shirley's life will take place at 6:00 p.m. Friday during the visitation. At the request of Mrs. Witzke cremation has taken place at the Sunset Valley Crematory. Those planning an expression of sympathy are asked to consider a memorial to Hospice of Michigan.
