Stanley R. Ziaya Sr.

Stanley passed away peacefully, Thursday, February 15, 2018 at his daughter's residence surrounded by family. Age 93years. The son of the late Steven and Julia (Novak) Ziaya was born August 9, 1924 in Omer, Michigan. Stanley was a member of Westminster Presbyterian Church. He retired from General Motors in Saginaw and was a member of the U.A.W. Stanley enjoyed going camping, playing cards and puzzling, but his greatest passions were family time and gardening.
Left behind to cherish his memories are his children; Cathy Dowd and friend Scott, Les Ziaya and friend Pam, Linda (Eric) Berry and Nancy (Mark) Reed, thirteen grandchildren; Kristopher (Joy) Dowd, Jeffrey (Ashley) Dowd, Lisa (Shaun) Geiger, Kevin (Marysa) Dowd, Amy (Michael) Bradford, Alexandrea (her fiancée, Casey) Ziaya, Jeremiah Ziaya, Peter Heagany, Matthew Heagany, Elicia Bell, Delane Bell, Rebecca Reed and Austin Reed, fourteen great grandchildren and several other extended family members. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife, Norma Jean Ziaya whom he married February 20, 1953 and she passed away April 6, 2015; two sisters and five brothers.
Funeral Services will take place Thursday, February 22, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. at Westminster Presbyterian Church 103 E Midland St, Bay City, MI 48706. Officiating will be Matthew Schramm with interment following at Oak Ridge Cemetery. The family will be present at the funeral home on Wednesday to receive family and friends from 2:00 to 8:00 p.m. Stanley will be taken to the church on Thursday to lie in state from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service.
