Martek, Steven Bay City, Michigan Steven Martek of Bay City passed away December 21,2011 at Bay Regional Hospital. Age 84. Born in Bay City March 21st, 1927 son of the late Stephen and Jennie Martek. Steven was a life member of American Legion #18, Amvets #22, VFW #485, Faith Lutheran Church, Telephone Pioneers of America. He served his country with the U.S. Navy and the U.S. Air Force during WW11 and the Korean Conflict and was a reserve with the U.S. Navy for a combined ten years service. He enjoyed woodworking, fishing, camping, amateur radio, and fixing house hold projects. He retired from Michigan Bell Telephone Company in 1983. On November 25, 1951 he was united in marriage to the former Mary Lou Mueller and she preceded him in death on August 11th, 1996. Mr. Martek is survived by four children: Debra (Rick) Schmidt of Bay City, Steven Martek of Bay City, Dianne Lively of Saugatok, and David Martek of Carlsbad,CA.; Grandchildren, Tiffany, Joshua (Gina), Hope, Stephen, Nigel, Caleb, Great Grandchildren, Cohl, Cameran, Cayden, his sisters and brothers; Dorothy Napieralski, Bob Martek, Rosie (Ron) Thume, Jim (Nancy) Martek. He was also preceded in death by his brother and sister-in-law; Gene and Delores Martek. Funeral services will take place Tuesday, December 27, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. at Faith Lutheran Church. Officiating will be Rev. Daniel C. Meckes with interment following in Floral Gardens Cemetery followed by Military Honors conducted by the Bay County Veterans Council. Friends may call at the Gephart Funeral Home, Inc. on Monday, December 26, 2011 from 2:00 to 9:00 p.m. Steven will be taken to the church on Tuesday to lie in state from 10:00 a.m. until the time of services. In lieu of flowers Memorial Cards for Faith Lutheran Church will be available at the funeral home.
