Mrs. De Frain passed away Tuesday morning, December 2, 2014 at her residence with her family at her side. Age 93 years. The daughter of the late Melvin and Roxie (Moore) Weed was born March 31, 1921 in Bay City, Michigan. She was a member of New Life Missionary Church. Mrs. De Frain retired from the Bay City Public Schools as a secretary, and was an active member of the Bay Area Retired School Personnel where she served as vice president. Following her retirement she volunteered for many years at Mc Lear Sawden School and volunteered every Wednesday at Bay Shores Nursing Home helping the residents play bingo. In her free time she crotched over a 1000 pair of mittens for the needy, loved doing word search puzzles and was an avid Detroit Pistons and Detroit Tigers Fan and was well known by her neighbors and friends for her scotcheroos that she made. Left behind to cherish her memory are two sons and two daughters-in-law; Donald and Sandy De Frain of Jackson, MI, Daniel and Cindy De Frain of Bay City, MI, her grandchildren; Brandon (Chelsey) De Frain, Jason (Kate) De Frain, Zachary (Heather) De Frain, Melissa (Norman) Chrisner, eight great grandchildren, one sister; Lois Weed, one sister-in-law; Irene Weed, her close friends; Marilyn Lucas and Dawilla Bridgewater. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death her husband; Robert J. De Frain whom she married August 17, 1946 and he passed away February 15, 2012, one sister and brother-in-law; Doris and Bernard Guoan and two brothers and one sister-in-law;John Weed and Charles and Eleanor Netting. Funeral and Committal Services will take place Saturday, December 6, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. at New Life Missionary Church. Officiating will be Rev. Jonathan Boyer with private interment in Oak Ridge Cemetery. The family will be present at the Gephart Funeral Home, Inc. on Friday to receive family and friends from 2:00 to 8:00 p.m. Mrs. De Frain will be taken to the church on Saturday to lie in state from 10:00 a.m. until the time of services.
