Theodore F. "Ted" Morris

Morris, Theodore F., Sr. (Ted) Bay City, Michigan Mr. Morris passed away Saturday, July 7, 2012 at Brian's House. Age 85 years. He was born November 26, 1926 in Cheboygan County, Michigan to Theodore James Morris and Christina (Gouin) Morris. He married Joy Carmean January 16, 1946. They celebrated 66 years of marriage. Ted served in the U.S. Navy from December 1943 until April 1946 participating in seven invasions in the South Pacific. He received an honorable discharge. He was employed by the Michigan State Ferries, General Highway Services, Michigan Central Railroad and worked in the Bay City School system from January 1967 until his retirement in 1982. He was an avid golfer and bowler. He loved making chocolate peanut butter fudge for everyone and was known by his grandchildren as the "fudge-making" papa. He also enjoyed spending winters in Florida. He spent his spare time making G.I. jewelry (silver rings made from quarters) for friends and relatives and was a K of C member for more than fifty years and served as the Grand Knight for two years at the Auburn Council 3590. Mr. Morris is survived by his wife Joy; two brothers, Richard (Audrey) Morris of Levering and Davey (Lois) Morris of Wyoming, MI; one sister, Sally Morris of Petoskey; two sons, Theodore Jr. of Thailand and Edward (Kathy) Morris of Bay City; two daughters, Susan (Chris) Baumbach of Essexville and Sandra (Thomas) Denzer of Phoenixville, PA; five grandchildren, Derek (Melissa) Denzer of Forest, VA, Nicole Garnaat of Portage, MI, Robyn (Randy) Coole of Oceanside, CA., Scott Morris of Bay City, Andrew Baumbach of Bay City and eight great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers, four sisters, one sister-in-law, three brothers-in-law, one niece and two nephews. The family would like to extend a special thank you to the staff at Brian's House for their compassion and care and a special nephew, Gary Miller. At the request of Mr. Morris cremation has taken place. A Memorial Liturgy will take place at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, July 14, 2012 at St. Mary of the Assumption Catholic Church followed by military honors under the auspices of the Bay County Veterans Council. Celebrant will be Rev. Fr. Craig L. Albrecht with private inurnment in Floral Gardens Cemetery at a later date. Friends may call at St. Mary of the Assumption Catholic Church on Saturday from 10:00 a.m. and until the time of services. Memorial cards for St. Mary of the Assumption Catholic Church building fund will be available at the church.
