Theodore "Ted" W. DuFord

Theodore W.DuFord "Ted" Freeland, Michigan Our loving husband, father and grandfather passed away peacefully Saturday morning, March 26, 2016 at his residence with his family at his side. Age 72 years. The son of the late Theodore A. and Clara L. DuFord was born April 2, 1943 in Bay City and had resided there until moving to Freeland. Ted graduated from the T.L. Handy High School in 1962 and proudly served his country in the United States Coast Guard. He retired from General Motors Powertrain in Bay City after thirty two and one half years of service. Ted was an master walleye fisherman, enjoyed playing pool and most of all he cherished the time he spent with his family, especially his grandchildren. On February 24, 1968 he married his loving wife of forty eight years the former Mary Jo Meagher and she is left to cherish his memories along with one daughter; Michelle (Darin) Brunett of Freeland, one son; Theodore P. (Adrian Aciar) DuFord of Freeland, two grandchildren; Connor and Chase Brunett, two nephews; Timothy and Thomas DuFord and one niece; Tammy DuFord, two sisters-in-law; Donna Strauss and Delores Meagher, two brothers-in-law; Mike Burgess and Carl Neveau and many other nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. He was preceded in death by one brother and sister-in-law; Robert "Duffy" and Lorraine DuFord, his father-in-law and mother-in-law; John P. and Elizabeth T. Meagher, sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law; Betty and Harold Greenleaf, Rita and Robert "Bud" Andrews, Dorothy Burgess, Marvin Strauss, James and Catherine Meagher, Barbara and Allan Keipinger, Karen Neveau and Richard Meagher. Funeral and Committal Services will take place Thursday, March 31, 2016 at 11:30 a.m. at the Gephart Funeral Home, Inc. Officiating will be Rev. Andreas H. Teich. At the request of Mr. DuFord cremation has taken place at the Sunset Valley Crematory. The family will be present at the funeral home on Wednesday to receive visitors from 4:00 to 9:00 p.m. and on Thursday from 10:30 a.m. until the time of service. Those planning an expression of sympathy are asked to consider a memorial to the wishes of the family.
