Thomas Stephen Luptowski

Our loving husband, father, grandfather and brother passed away peacefully Wednesday, May 17, 2017 at Bay Shores Senior Care and Rehab Center with his family by his side. Age 80 years. The son of the late Edmund and Rosalie (Pietryga) Luptowski was born February 16, 1937 in Bay City, Michigan. He was a member of Corpus Christi Parish-St. Hedig Church. He retired from Northwood University as Professor Emeritus. Mr. Luptowski was also an advisor to the Tau Kappa Epsilon Fraternity and Northwood University's number one fan. In his free time he enjoyed going golfing, civil war history, and sports. Tom graduated from St. Stanislaus in 1955 and went on to serve in the Air Force. He graduated from Delta College and Central Michigan University and received Masters Degrees from Central Michigan University and Western Michigan University.
On August 26, 1967, Tom married Ruth A. Valley. She survives him along with their daughters, Jennifer (Carl) Cornell, Melissa (Kevin) Glaza; his grandchildren, William and Henry Cornell, Andrew, Nathan and Madeline Glaza; his brothers and sister, Clarence (Jeanette) Luptowski, Rita (Charles) Richards and Edmund "Sonny" (Dawn) Luptowski; many nieces and nephews. Along with his parents he was also predeceased by his granddaughter, Abagail Luptowski.
The Funeral Liturgy and Rite of Committal will take place Monday May 22, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. at Corpus Christi Parish-St. Hedwig Church. Officiating will be Rev. Fr. Robert Kelm followed by Military Honors conducted by the Bay County Veterans Council. The family will be present at the Gephart Funeral Home, Inc. on Sunday from 2:00 to 8:00 p.m. to receive family and friends. The Vigil for the Deceased will take place Sunday evening at 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Mr. Luptowski will be taken to the church on Monday to lie in state from 10:00 a.m. until the time of services. Those planning an expression of sympathy may wish to consider donations to the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society, Brian's House or the Good Samaritan Rescue Mission.
