Thomas passed away on Saturday, March 31, 2018 at McLaren Bay Region at the age of 71 years. Thomas was born on April 29, 1946 in Cass City to the late Daniel and Vernita (Wissner) McPhail. He served his country in the United States Marine Corp. during the Vietnam War. On May 12, 1984 he was united in marriage to Elaine Crandall at St. Michaels Catholic Church in Pinconning. Thomas retired in June of 2001 from Delphi Corporation after 30 years. In his spare time he enjoyed golfing, camping and spending time with his family. He was a loving husband, father and grandfather.
Thomas is survived by his wife, Elaine; four step daughters, Christina (Tom) Ardelean of Owosso, Robin (John) Dawson of Midland, Wendy (Brandt) Dodd of Boerne, Texas and Angela (Darrin) Demott of Linwood; seventeen grandchildren; sibling, Daryl (Faith) McPhail of St. Charles, Charles (Lynn) McPhail of Houston, Texas, Kathy (Sid) Heyl of Bay City and David McPhail of Jackson; sister-in-law, Joan McPhail of Owendale. In addition to his parents he was also preceded in death by his brothers, James and Robert McPhail.
Funeral Liturgy and Rite of Committal will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, April 6, 2018 at Prince of Peace Parish - Sacred Heart Church, Kawkawlin. The celebrant will be Rev. Fr. Nicholas Coffaro with Deacon Michael Arnold. Private interment in Calvary Cemetery. Friends may visit with the family at the Gephart Funeral Home, Inc. on Thursday from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. The Vigil for the deceased will take place at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday evening at the funeral home. Mr. McPhail will lie in state at the church on Friday from 9:00 a.m. until the time of the mass. Those planning an expression of sympathy may wish to consider donations to Prince of Peace Parish - Sacred Heart Church or St Judes.
