Peil, Thomas John "Tom" Bay City, Michigan Tom Peil, age 62, passed away unexpectedly, early Sunday morning August 10, 2014 at Covenant Health Care in Saginaw, Michigan following injuries sustained in an accident. The son of the late Henry and Minnie (Huntley) Peil was born December 16, 1951 in Bay City and has resided here all of his life. Tom graduated from T.L. Handy High School, Class of 1969. He was an active member of Trinity Ev. Lutheran Church where he sang in the Choir, served as an usher and took an active role on many church boards and committees . Tom was employed with MCV in Midland, where he worked as an Electrician, until his retirement in 2012. Tom had many hobbies over the years which included wine making, bowling, bird watching, going to amusement parks, watching Detroit sports and was an avid fan. He enjoyed the time he spent competing with his Barbershop Quartet. Tom also enjoyed trips up north, color tours and most of all spending time with the love of his life Nancy, his children and grandchildren. On May 5, 1973 he married his loving wife of 41 years, the former Nancy R. Hughes at St. John's Ev. Lutheran Church and she is left behind to cherish his memories. Surviving besides his wife are, daughters Chris Peil, Karen (William) Dalton, son, Scott (Jessica) Peil and granddaughter, Addison (Peanut) Peil, step grandchildren, Joey (Kurt) Beach and Alex Dalton, brother and sister-in-law; Paul (Judy) Peil, his sister, Carol Czymbor, his father-in-law and mother-in-law; George and Ruth Hughes, one brother-in-law; Rick Hughes, his nieces, nephews, his best buddy; Gyzmo and special family friend, Zac Jaskiewicz. Besides his parents Henry and Minnie he was preceded in death by his bother-in-law; Bob Czymbor . Funeral Services will take place Friday, August 15, 2014 at 10:00 a.m. at Trinity Ev. Lutheran Church, 1010 33rd Street, Bay City, MI 48708. Officiating will be Rev. Richard Starr with internment following at Elm Lawn Park Cemetery under the Auspices of the United States Army and the Bay County Veterans Council. Friends may call at the Gephart Funeral Home, Inc. Wednesday from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. and on Thursday from 2:00 to 8:00 p.m. Mr. Peil will be taken to the church on Friday to lie in state from 9:00 a.m. until the time of service. In lieu of flowers the family asks that you consider a memorial to Trinity Ev. Lutheran Church's 130th Anniversary Fund.
