Mr. Pembroke passed away late Thursday evening October 31, 2013 at Bay Shores Senior Care and Rehabilitation Center at the age of 87 years. He was born June 12, 1926 in Bay City and has resided here all of his life. Tom was a member of St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church, retired from Dow Chemical Company - Midland Division; he was an active member of Bangor Booster Club where he served as the first President. Tom enjoyed the time he spent at North West Little League as a team manager, was an avid bowler, was inducted in the Bay City Bowling Hall of Fame in 1986 and was the Director of the Bay City Bowling Association for thirty five years. Tom Proudly served his country in the United States Army. He is survived by one daughter and son-in-law; Bonnie and David Winters of Bay City, one son and daughter-in-law; Tommy and Tammy Pembroke of Bay City, seven grandchildren; David L. and Joyce Winters , Todd Thomas and Bridget Winters, Mark Allan Winters, Rebecca and Kenneth Goretski, Patrick Pembroke, Carrie McCarty, Christopher and Nicole Haller, 15 great grandchildren, and one great great grandchild. He was preceded by his wife of 53 years the former Shirley M. Berthiaume and she preceded him in death on May 14, 2002. He was also preceded in death by his parents; Leon and Ellen (Mahar) Pembroke, three sons; John, Patrick and Michael, one brother and sister-in-law; John and Catherine Pembroke and four sisters-in-law. The family would like to thank Bay Shores Nursing Home for their love and caring of Tom also Heartland Hospice for their help. The Bay County Veterans Council and members of the United States Army will conduct Military Honors Monday November 4, 2013 at 10:00 a.m. at the Gephart Funeral Home, Inc. followed by The Funeral Service and Rite of Committal at 11:00 a.m. Officiating will be Sr. Virginia Scally, SNDdeN with private inurnment in St. Patrick Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home on Sunday from 2:00 to 9:00 p.m. and on Monday from 9:00 a.m. and until the time of service. Memorial cards for the Wishes of the Family will be available.
