Mr. Schindler passed away early Thursday morning, April 26, 2018 at Mid-Michigan Health in Midland, MI. Age 85 years. The son of the late Edward and Esther (Forster) Schindler was born May 6, 1932 in Bay County. He was a lifelong member of St. Bartholomew Ev. Lutheran Church in Kawkawlin. Mr. Schindler was very active in his church and very active in several farming organizations. He was a lifelong farmer and owned and operated Schindler Farms. Mr. Schindler served his country in the U.S. Army.
Left to cherish his memories is his wife Loretta M. Schindler whom he married July 7, 1990; four children and their spouses, Terry Schindler of Kawkawlin, MI, Toni and Rick Landosky of Ortonville, MI, Julie and Scott Ostermiller of Douglas, WY, Jon and Jennifer Schindler of Kawkawlin, MI; 9 grandchildren; 7 great grandchildren; his step children, Debra and David Roth of Midland, MI, James Jr. and Linda Eckinger of Kawkawlin, MI, Connie and John Vigneaux of Rock Springs, WY, Julie and Greg Crim of Fife Lake, MI; 11 step- grandchildren, 16 step-great grandchildren; three sisters and two brothers-in-law, Marion and John Panagiotis of Carmel, IN, Carol Hardy-Coty of Bay City, MI and Janice and Curt Berger of Bay City, MI.; several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents he was also preceded in death by his first wife, Delores Schindler whom he married in January 6, 1955 and she passed away on September 20, 1989; his daughter-in-law, Sue Schindler; his brothers-in-law, Larry Hardy and Merlin Coty; his niece, Shelly Berger.
Funeral Services will take place Monday, April 30, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Bartholomew Ev. Lutheran Church 2460 S. Fraser Rd. Kawkawlin, MI 48631. Officiating will be Rev. Larry Seafert with interment following in Heavenly Rest Cemetery. The family will be present at the Gephart Funeral Home, Inc. on Saturday to receive family and friends from 5:00 to 9:00 p.m. and on Sunday from 2:00 to 9:00 p.m. Mr. Schindler will be taken to the church on Monday to lie in state from 10:00 a.m. until the time of services.
